8-year old pupil narrates how guard raped her on school premises in Nigeria

The police have arrested a security guard of a public school in Lagos, Adeniyi Primary School, Itire, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old pupil. PUNCH Metro learnt that the 40-year-old suspect, Friday Oshoba, aka Mopol, committed the alleged crime while the primary 2 pupil, Mercy (pseudonym), was waiting for her sister to pick her up after the school closed around 2pm.
Oshoba was said to have persuaded her to follow him to a deserted spot within the school and removed her underwear. He reportedly raped her afterwards.
It was gathered that a class five pupil, identified only as Bukola, who was sent on an errand by a schoolteacher, caught the guard in the act and reported to the teacher.

Mercy, on getting home, recounted the incident to her parents. An uncle of the girl followed her to the school the following day and reported the matter to the head teacher.
The head teacher was said to have invited policemen from the Itire division, leading to Oshoba’s arrest.
Mercy, in her statements to the police, said,

“I was in the school on May 11 at about 2pm when Mopol (Oshoba) called me to a place on the school premises. He removed my underwear and put his thing (manhood) inside my bum-bum. Bukola, who is in primary five, saw us and reported to her teacher. I also told my daddy when I got home.”
The suspect, an indigene of Ekpoma, Edo State, denied raping the girl, saying he did not know her name. Oshoba was, however, silent in his statement on whether he took Mercy to any spot as alleged.
He said,

“The girl is one of our pupils in Adeniyi Primary School.“I did not know her name, but I know she is in Primary two. I did not do anything with her. I was married, but my wife left me and I don’t have any child.”
However, a social worker at the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where medical examinations were carried out on the victim, said Mercy had bruises in her private parts.
Oshoba was subsequently brought before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court by a police prosecutor, Francisca Job, on one count of rape.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adegbite, admitted him to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Khloe Kardashian and Chloƫ Grace Moretz Feud on Twitter Following Kim Kardashian's Snapchats

After Kim Kardashian revealed clips of Kanye West and Taylor Swift discussing lyrics for his track "Famous" on Snapchat, several stars took to social media to respond to the pop culture frenzy that had ignited. Among those celebrity names was 19-year-old Neighbors 2 star Chloe Grace Moretz, who expressed a few of her overall thoughts on Twitter.
"Everyone in this industry needs to get their heads out of a hole and look around to realize what's ACTUALLY happening in the REAL world," she wrote late Sunday. "Stop wasting your voice on something so petulant and unimportant."
Kim's younger sister Khloe Kardashian did not take too kindly to Moretz's remarks, begging the question, "Is this the a hole you're referring to @ChloeGMoretz ???" The reality star embedded two photos, one of the actress looking off into the distance clad in a red bikini top and the other, of a blond woman with her back turned to the camera being carried in the ocean on a mystery man's back. In the latter shot, the woman's behind is exposed while the man carrying her accidentally pulls at her red bikini bottom.
While it appeared like both photos were of Moretz, the star clarified for fans. "Fact check: first photo is me filming my movie Neighbors 2, the second photo is some girl who was wrongfully photographed," Moretz explained. She also included a photo of herself from the film shoot, which revealed she was wearing a pair of blue bikini bottoms unlike the second photo depicted.
Actress Ruby Rose commented on the interaction. "Yo Khloe I thought you were rad when I met you but this is awful and this is a 19 year old girl," the Orange Is the New Black star wrote on Twitter.

This is not the first time Moretz has gotten into an online spat with a member of the Kardashian clan. When Kim shared a nude mirror selfie in early March, the actress expressed concern on her Twitter account. "I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies," she wrote. Kim responded, "Let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is...your nylon cover is cute boo." Moretz appeared on the December/January issue of the magazine, seemingly without clothing except for a jacket draped over her shoulder though she was credited with wearing a bodysuit underneath.
The actress later clarified her stance, writing, "There's a huge difference in respecting the platform that you're given as a celebrity and 'slut shaming' something I never have done and would never do."

Serena William's Dad Suffers a Stroke

Serena Williams‘ Wimbledon glory has been overshadowed by a dark family tragedy, RadarOnline.com has learned: Her father, Richard Williams, recently had a stroke and has since been experiencing debilitating memory issues, his wife told Radar.
Lakeisha Williams, Richard’s current wife confirmed that he did have stroke and was released from the hospital last week. Shockingly, the medical crisis unfolded BEFORE Serena’s Wimbledon victory, but she managed to keep the secret from fans.
“His condition is fair – he’s up and walking around but he’s not at 100 percent,” she told Radar in an exclusive interview.
Although he is able to get around, Lakeisha said that the battle for a full recovery is far from over.
“He needs speech therapy, psychological therapy and physical therapy but for now he refused,” she said. “I’m trying to get him under control and relaxed so that when we come back from out of town we could try to get that going. But he doesn’t wish to be bothered with anybody.”
“His mind is thinking that they’re going to put him back in ‘prison’ – which is what he calls the hospital,” she said. “He thinks we are just going to take him back to the hospital, but that is not correct.”
In fact, Lakeisha believes that Richard, 74, is under the impression that he never had a stroke to begin with!
“His mind is telling him that since he was once in charge of his life, after what’s happened he’s not accepting it. To him he’s a normal person – nothing happened to him,” she told Radar.
As of now, it is unclear is the tennis player’s father will ever be the same. But Lakeisha is hoping for the best and in the meantime is coping with her husband’s new condition.
“We have to let nature take its course,” she said. “I’ve been with him a long time so I know what he’s trying to say. It’s like training yourself for your child – like a baby, you have to think for them.”
Sports fans know just how close Richard was to Serena and sister Venus, coaching them from a young age and helping to mold them into the tennis phenols they are today.

Morocco Asks to Rejoin the African Union

Morocco left the AU in 1984, after the organisation recognised the independence of Western Sahara.Moroccans described Western Sahara as their country’s “southern provinces” and for more than three decades, Morocco  refused to be part of the organisation , it threatened to pull its soldiers out of UN global peacekeeping missions because of the dispute.
Now, the Moroccan authorities seem to have concluded their absence hasn’t helped them diplomatically over Western Sahara and many other issues, says the BBC’s Africa Reporter James Copnall. They sent a special envoy to lobby African leaders at their summit in the Rwandan capital Kigali this weekend. The AU has said that it will continue pushing for the rights of the people of Western Sahara to hold a self-determination referendum.

Bad News for United Kingdom Migrants

Theresa May is facing calls to rethink the “discriminatory” new earnings threshold of £35,000 for non-EU migrants that could starve Britain of vital talent in the teaching, charity and entrepreneur sectors when the changes take effect in April.
Overseas workers who have lived in the UK for five years will have to prove they will be paid the new minimum threshold in order to stay in the country.
Those who fail to demonstrate earnings of more than £35,000 will be denied settlement in the UK and will face deportation according to the new Home Office policy.
The Government temporarily exempted nurses from the new rules last autumn in response to fears about widespread shortages of workers across the NHS.
But the earnings threshold could be applied to migrant nurses in the future should the Government decide to take them off the Shortage Occupation List.
Former Cabinet minister Alistair Carmichael, who was David Cameron's Scottish Secretary before the election, told The Independent that discriminating on the basis of income would harm the UK’s place at the “forefront of the global economy”, while shadow immigration minister Keir Starmer said there were “real concerns” over how key industries would be affected.
Mr Starmer, who served as the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2008-2013, urged ministers to “look more closely” at the threshold, which is currently £20,800 – around £5,000 less than the average UK salary
petition launched earlier this week to try to force the Government to rethink the sharp rise in the minimum income requirements has attracted more than 2,000 signatures.
Joshua Harbord, who set up the petition on the Parliament website, told The Independentthat he decided to take action because he knew a number of “incredibly upset and scared” people who were set to be affected by the changes but had no one speaking up on their behalf.
“These aren’t the benefits-scrounging, baby-sprouting terrorists that everyone seems so afraid of,” he said.
"They're people who have worked in the UK for years, making friends and families, building homes and communities and contributing to this country's culture and economy.”
The petition, which calls for the Government to scrap the new £35,000 threshold for non-EU citizens, could be debated by MPs if it reaches 100,000 signatures but only needs 10,000 to receive a response from the Government.
