8-year old pupil narrates how guard raped her on school premises in Nigeria

The police have arrested a security guard of a public school in Lagos, Adeniyi Primary School, Itire, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old pupil. PUNCH Metro learnt that the 40-year-old suspect, Friday Oshoba, aka Mopol, committed the alleged crime while the primary 2 pupil, Mercy (pseudonym), was waiting for her sister to pick her up after the school closed around 2pm.
Oshoba was said to have persuaded her to follow him to a deserted spot within the school and removed her underwear. He reportedly raped her afterwards.
It was gathered that a class five pupil, identified only as Bukola, who was sent on an errand by a schoolteacher, caught the guard in the act and reported to the teacher.

Mercy, on getting home, recounted the incident to her parents. An uncle of the girl followed her to the school the following day and reported the matter to the head teacher.
The head teacher was said to have invited policemen from the Itire division, leading to Oshoba’s arrest.
Mercy, in her statements to the police, said,

“I was in the school on May 11 at about 2pm when Mopol (Oshoba) called me to a place on the school premises. He removed my underwear and put his thing (manhood) inside my bum-bum. Bukola, who is in primary five, saw us and reported to her teacher. I also told my daddy when I got home.”
The suspect, an indigene of Ekpoma, Edo State, denied raping the girl, saying he did not know her name. Oshoba was, however, silent in his statement on whether he took Mercy to any spot as alleged.
He said,

“The girl is one of our pupils in Adeniyi Primary School.“I did not know her name, but I know she is in Primary two. I did not do anything with her. I was married, but my wife left me and I don’t have any child.”
However, a social worker at the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where medical examinations were carried out on the victim, said Mercy had bruises in her private parts.
Oshoba was subsequently brought before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court by a police prosecutor, Francisca Job, on one count of rape.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adegbite, admitted him to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Khloe Kardashian and Chloë Grace Moretz Feud on Twitter Following Kim Kardashian's Snapchats

After Kim Kardashian revealed clips of Kanye West and Taylor Swift discussing lyrics for his track "Famous" on Snapchat, several stars took to social media to respond to the pop culture frenzy that had ignited. Among those celebrity names was 19-year-old Neighbors 2 star Chloe Grace Moretz, who expressed a few of her overall thoughts on Twitter.
"Everyone in this industry needs to get their heads out of a hole and look around to realize what's ACTUALLY happening in the REAL world," she wrote late Sunday. "Stop wasting your voice on something so petulant and unimportant."
Kim's younger sister Khloe Kardashian did not take too kindly to Moretz's remarks, begging the question, "Is this the a hole you're referring to @ChloeGMoretz ???" The reality star embedded two photos, one of the actress looking off into the distance clad in a red bikini top and the other, of a blond woman with her back turned to the camera being carried in the ocean on a mystery man's back. In the latter shot, the woman's behind is exposed while the man carrying her accidentally pulls at her red bikini bottom.
While it appeared like both photos were of Moretz, the star clarified for fans. "Fact check: first photo is me filming my movie Neighbors 2, the second photo is some girl who was wrongfully photographed," Moretz explained. She also included a photo of herself from the film shoot, which revealed she was wearing a pair of blue bikini bottoms unlike the second photo depicted.
Actress Ruby Rose commented on the interaction. "Yo Khloe I thought you were rad when I met you but this is awful and this is a 19 year old girl," the Orange Is the New Black star wrote on Twitter.

This is not the first time Moretz has gotten into an online spat with a member of the Kardashian clan. When Kim shared a nude mirror selfie in early March, the actress expressed concern on her Twitter account. "I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies," she wrote. Kim responded, "Let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to twitter, since no one knows who she is...your nylon cover is cute boo." Moretz appeared on the December/January issue of the magazine, seemingly without clothing except for a jacket draped over her shoulder though she was credited with wearing a bodysuit underneath.
The actress later clarified her stance, writing, "There's a huge difference in respecting the platform that you're given as a celebrity and 'slut shaming' something I never have done and would never do."

Serena William's Dad Suffers a Stroke

Serena Williams‘ Wimbledon glory has been overshadowed by a dark family tragedy, RadarOnline.com has learned: Her father, Richard Williams, recently had a stroke and has since been experiencing debilitating memory issues, his wife told Radar.
Lakeisha Williams, Richard’s current wife confirmed that he did have stroke and was released from the hospital last week. Shockingly, the medical crisis unfolded BEFORE Serena’s Wimbledon victory, but she managed to keep the secret from fans.
“His condition is fair – he’s up and walking around but he’s not at 100 percent,” she told Radar in an exclusive interview.
Although he is able to get around, Lakeisha said that the battle for a full recovery is far from over.
“He needs speech therapy, psychological therapy and physical therapy but for now he refused,” she said. “I’m trying to get him under control and relaxed so that when we come back from out of town we could try to get that going. But he doesn’t wish to be bothered with anybody.”
“His mind is thinking that they’re going to put him back in ‘prison’ – which is what he calls the hospital,” she said. “He thinks we are just going to take him back to the hospital, but that is not correct.”
In fact, Lakeisha believes that Richard, 74, is under the impression that he never had a stroke to begin with!
“His mind is telling him that since he was once in charge of his life, after what’s happened he’s not accepting it. To him he’s a normal person – nothing happened to him,” she told Radar.
As of now, it is unclear is the tennis player’s father will ever be the same. But Lakeisha is hoping for the best and in the meantime is coping with her husband’s new condition.
“We have to let nature take its course,” she said. “I’ve been with him a long time so I know what he’s trying to say. It’s like training yourself for your child – like a baby, you have to think for them.”
Sports fans know just how close Richard was to Serena and sister Venus, coaching them from a young age and helping to mold them into the tennis phenols they are today.

Morocco Asks to Rejoin the African Union

Morocco left the AU in 1984, after the organisation recognised the independence of Western Sahara.Moroccans described Western Sahara as their country’s “southern provinces” and for more than three decades, Morocco  refused to be part of the organisation , it threatened to pull its soldiers out of UN global peacekeeping missions because of the dispute.
Now, the Moroccan authorities seem to have concluded their absence hasn’t helped them diplomatically over Western Sahara and many other issues, says the BBC’s Africa Reporter James Copnall. They sent a special envoy to lobby African leaders at their summit in the Rwandan capital Kigali this weekend. The AU has said that it will continue pushing for the rights of the people of Western Sahara to hold a self-determination referendum.

Bad News for United Kingdom Migrants

Theresa May is facing calls to rethink the “discriminatory” new earnings threshold of £35,000 for non-EU migrants that could starve Britain of vital talent in the teaching, charity and entrepreneur sectors when the changes take effect in April.
Overseas workers who have lived in the UK for five years will have to prove they will be paid the new minimum threshold in order to stay in the country.
Those who fail to demonstrate earnings of more than £35,000 will be denied settlement in the UK and will face deportation according to the new Home Office policy.
The Government temporarily exempted nurses from the new rules last autumn in response to fears about widespread shortages of workers across the NHS.
But the earnings threshold could be applied to migrant nurses in the future should the Government decide to take them off the Shortage Occupation List.
Former Cabinet minister Alistair Carmichael, who was David Cameron's Scottish Secretary before the election, told The Independent that discriminating on the basis of income would harm the UK’s place at the “forefront of the global economy”, while shadow immigration minister Keir Starmer said there were “real concerns” over how key industries would be affected.
Mr Starmer, who served as the Director of Public Prosecutions from 2008-2013, urged ministers to “look more closely” at the threshold, which is currently £20,800 – around £5,000 less than the average UK salary
petition launched earlier this week to try to force the Government to rethink the sharp rise in the minimum income requirements has attracted more than 2,000 signatures.
Joshua Harbord, who set up the petition on the Parliament website, told The Independentthat he decided to take action because he knew a number of “incredibly upset and scared” people who were set to be affected by the changes but had no one speaking up on their behalf.
“These aren’t the benefits-scrounging, baby-sprouting terrorists that everyone seems so afraid of,” he said.
"They're people who have worked in the UK for years, making friends and families, building homes and communities and contributing to this country's culture and economy.”
The petition, which calls for the Government to scrap the new £35,000 threshold for non-EU citizens, could be debated by MPs if it reaches 100,000 signatures but only needs 10,000 to receive a response from the Government.

Pakistani Model Finally Laid to Rest

MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — The brother of slain Pakistani model Qandeel Baloch on Sunday confessed to strangling her for "family honor" because she posted "shameful" pictures on Facebook.
Baloch, who had become a social media celebrity in recent months, stirred controversy by posting pictures online taken with a prominent Muslim cleric. She was found dead on Saturday at her family home in the central city of Multan.
Police arrested her brother, Waseem Azeem, and presented him before the media in Multan, where he confessed to killing her. He said people had taunted him over the photos and that he found the social embarrassment unbearable.
"I was determined either to kill myself or kill her," Azeem told The Associated Press as he was being led away.
He said that even though Baloch was the main breadwinner for the family, he slipped her sedatives the night before and then strangled her in her sleep.
"Money matters, but family honor is more important," said Azeem.
Nearly 1,000 women are murdered in Pakistan each year for violating conservative norms on love, marriage and public behavior. The so-called "honor killings" are often carried out by family members.
Such killings are considered murder. But Islamic law in Pakistan allows a murder victim's family to pardon the killer, which often allows those convicted of honor killings to escape punishment.
Regional police chief Sultan Taimuri said authorities will seek the maximum punishment for Azeem, without providing further details.

Baloch, whose real name was Fauzia Azeem, was buried Sunday.
She had shot to fame and notoriety through social media postings that would be considered tame by Western standards but were seen as scandalous by many in deeply conservative Pakistan.
video of her dancing to a popular rap song was widely circulated, and at the time of her death she had 40,000 followers on Twitter and 700,000 on Facebook. In postings and public comments, she presented herself as a symbol of female empowerment
She became embroiled in scandal earlier this month when she posted pictures taken with Mufti Abdul Qavi, a prominent cleric, in a Karachi hotel room during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. In one picture, she is wearing the cleric's trademark fur-lined hat.
Qavi maintained that he only met with her to discuss the teachings of Islam. But the government suspended Qavi and removed him from the official moon-sighting committee that determines when Ramadan starts and ends in accordance with the Islamic lunar calendar.
Baloch's death produced a mixed reaction on the same social media outlets that helped fuel her popularity.
One poster on Twitter wrote: "A girl who decides to publish her naked pics for sake of publicity ... what her brother is supposed to do?"
But Alizeh Tahir wrote on Facebook: "I am sad to hear the news of Qandeel Baloch's murder. What saddens me more is the reaction of my nation. People who celebrate someone's death are, probably, themselves dead inside."
The leading daily newspaper Dawn published an editorial expressing the hope that Baloch's murder would spark a national round of soul-searching and finally lead to the end to Pakistan's 'honor killing' phenomenon. "The death of Qandeel Baloch conveys an insidious message: that women will be kept back at all cost; murdered, if they dare nurture ambitions to break the glass ceiling," the newspaper stated. "Her murder, therefore, must serve as an impetus for legislators to renew demands for legislation to protect women who are threatened under false notions of 'honor.' "

So sad

Adorable Twins

On Mother’s Day 2014, Sarah Thistlethwaite gave birth to twins by Caesarean section after a high-risk pregnancy. Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite were born clutching each other, holding hands in one of the cutest moments ever.
“My heart just melted,” Sarah says to People magazine. “Even my husband got tears in his eyes — I don’t know that anybody in the room had a dry eye.”
Jenna and Jillian were monoamniotic twins, which means they shared an amniotic sac in the womb. Pregnancies with this type of twins carry the risk of the umbilical cords getting tangled and cutting off the blood supply to one of the twins. Up until 24 weeks, monoamniotic twins have only a 50 percent survival rate.
Two years after a healthy birth, People checked in with the now two-year-old hand-holding twins, and we were delighted to hear that they are doing great. Jillian turned out to be the bold one, while Jenna is more shy, but one thing has been a constant since Day 1 — these two are incredibly tight.
“Sometimes if my husband goes to the store, he’ll take one twin and I’ll keep the other,” Sarah says. “When that happens, they both get really upset and ask for each other. They’re definitely really close. They’re like two peas in a pod.”

Like most of us, eating and playing ranks high on their list of favorite things to do, but they do sometimes fight over things that many sisters do — like their wardrobes.

“They like the same foods, they both love swimming and being outside, and they love to play with the same toys,” Sarah says. “We try to buy two of everything to minimize competition, but still, they usually find one to fight over — even if they’re exactly the same.”
Like any besties, these two even look out for one another when they’re feeling down.
“If one twin is crying, the other will try to find a way to comfort her, like going to find a pacifier or rubbing the other’s back or offering a hug,” Sarah says. “They always take care of each other.”
So cute, right? But that’s not to say that — like pretty much all sisters — they don’t get each other in trouble.
“If Jenna does something bad, I’ll ask her about it and she’ll say, ‘No, Jillian did it!'” Sarah says. “But they look so much alike that sometimes I really can’t tell which one of them is in trouble.”

Despite all the normal sister stuff, these two have such a special bond that we’re sure they’ll treasure forever

Terror Attack Kill Many in France

Scores of people were killed Thursday night when a large truck plowed through a Bastille Day crowd in Nice, France, in what President Francois Hollande called a terror attack.
The death toll grew through the night, with Hollande saying 77 people died. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said 80 people were killed.
The driver first shot a gun into the crowd before driving two kilometers along the Promenade des Anglais, the main street in Nice, mowing down people who had gathered to watch fireworks, regional President Christian Estrosi told CNN affiliate BFM-TV.
Police shot and killed the driver, said Pierre-Henry Brandet, a spokesman for the French Interior Ministry. Police found firearms, explosives and grenades in the truck, Estrosi said.
"We cannot deny that it was a terror attack," Hollande said in a national television address. He added that the choice of the day -- Bastille Day, when France celebrates its post-French Revolution republic -- was particularly poignant.
He said that the day is a "symbol of liberty," and that "human rights are denied by fanatics and France is quite clearly their target."
Hollande recommended that an existing state of emergency, put in place in the wake of the Paris attacks in November 2015 and due to expire later this month, be extended for three further months.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility. Anti-terror prosecutors have taken over the investigation, according to BFMTV, citing the prosecutor's office.
Leaders around the world have denounced the brutal incident.
U.S. President Barack Obama issued a statement saying, "We stand in solidarity and partnership with France, our oldest ally, as they respond to and recover from this attack."

Kim Kardashian Blasts Taylor Swift Again

Reality star Kim Kardashian has called out Taylor Swift again for denying knowledge of Kanye's 'Famous'  song..Kim says Taylor even helped rewrite the lyrics.

This comes after Calvin Harris slammed Taylor Swift for revealing she wrote his hit tack. This is what you came for despite initially wanting to keep it a secret and writing it under a pseudonym.

In a newly released KUWTK cilip, Kim says

"I never talk s*** about anyone publicly, especially in interviews, but I was just like, I have so had it,"

I just felt like I wanted to defend him in it cause she legitimately, quote, said: 'As soon as I get on that Grammy red carpet I'm gonna tell all the press I was in on it'.""And then she just didn't like the reaction," interjected Kourtney as she nodded along in agreement.

Yeah just another way to play the victim. It definitely got her a lot of attention the first time,""I just don't think he should be punished for it still to this day."
    Kim then tells the camera:

"I've had it with people blatantly treating me husband a certain way and making him look a certain way.
"Kanye is always so honest and speaks his mind and when we were first dating people would always talk s*** and he always had my back.
"At this point I really don't give a f*** so I'll do whatever to protect my husband."She continued referencing Kanye's famous run in with Taylor at the 2009 VMAs

Yeah Kanye definitely hurt her years ago when he did that but it wasn't meant to be personal. It could have been anyone. We all know Single Ladies was the biggest song of the year," "So when she didn't win he just wanted to stand up for it."
"I'm so glad that you said the truth," responded Kourtney.

"I am just speaking the truth. He called her, spoke to her, she even helped him rewrite. It's so wild," finished Kim.

Amnesty International accuses Cameroonian forces of mass killings and torture

Amnesty International accuse Cameroonian security forces for unlawfully killing dozens of civilians, torturing others and accountable for forced disappearances of others in mass arrests of suspects in the fight against the Boko Haram Islamic sect.

A report published Thursday accuses forces operating in Cameroon's Far North region, bordering north-east Nigeria, of crimes under international law
The London-based group says Cameroon's government and security chiefs have not responded to its requests for information about the allegations and missing people and its calls for investigations.

The Associated Press has quoted refugees who fled across the border into Nigeria as saying that Cameroonian troops were indiscriminately killing civilians and looting and destroying property.

Amnesty says it interviewed more than 160 people including victims, witnesses and a senior military officer during three trips to Cameroon in 2015.

Alleged Assassin of French Engineer Apprehended

The alleged assassin of the French engineer Patrick Morel, was presented to the press on July 11, 2016 in Bafoussam.
His name is Yannick Dorgelles Sandio Saha. The young man of 24-year old would be the killer of Patrick Morel, a French Civil Engineer, aged 50, whose lifeless body was found on June 11, 2016, in his home in the Quartier 4 neighborhood of Bangangte. He was one of the controllers of the work of expansion of the Université des Montagne Campus. The suspect was presented to the press yesterday, Monday, July 11, at the Regional Division of the Judicial Police for the West in Bafoussam.
La Nouvelle Expression (LNE) on newsstands this July 12 related what Yannick Sandio Saha confessed to journalists. “People can say that someone who sent me to kill this gentleman, but that is not the case. Until proven otherwise, I have not had time to explain to someone what had really happened, because I was greatly disturbed, “he said.
The young man made rather disturbing revelations. “When I hit him, it was not a human being that I hit, I hit on a snake. He died in my hands, and we got to talk for a long time. I did not take anything from him, people need to know, I left everything on there. He even made a confession, he told me some things I had to explain to his wife. I rather went to his wife to try to explain what happened and that she should hand me over to the justice. For I am certain of one thing, I’m not a murderer, “he proclaimed.
For him, the prison is a lesser evil compared to the psychological torture he suffered for this event. “I’m ready to go to jail, that’s not what scares me, I would’ve even committed suicide shortly after because I could not stand it. Prison does not scare, it is nothing compared to what I’m going through psychologically. By the time I hit it was a snake, it is not excluded that someone turned him into a snake for me to go hit him. When he regained human form, I tried to save him by taking the keys to his car to drive to the hospital, but I do not have a driver license, “he says.
But for LNE, the mystery remains. The paper also argues that “the murder of Patrick Morel looks very much like a contract killing. After the act, a number of SMS was sent to some media men to announce the news. The contact used to send those sms remained reachable for a few hours before disappearing from the network.

Cameron's musical exit: 'Winnie the Pooh' or 'West Wing?'

(CNN)In what might be the best hot mic moment of the year -- and there have been a few to choose from -- David Cameron was caught humming a little tune to himself shortly after he announced Theresa May would become the next UK Prime Minister.
"Do, doo, do, do...," he sings as he heads back to the Prime Minster's residence.
    "Right."
For those wondering exactly what Cameron was getting at with his ditty, British radio station Classic FM immediately offered up some analysis, christening the soon-to-be anthem, "Cameron's Lament."
However most people in the Twittersphere were of the view that rather than a lament, he had a bit of a spring in his step as he rounded off his tenure, in a marked change to his appearance a few weeks previously.
It didn't take long before theories abounded as to what specific tune Cameron was aiming for. The most popular view was that although it might all look a bit "Yes Minister," it was "The West Wing" that was on the soon-to-be-former-PM's mind.
Other classics to get a mention included "Shostakovich's 5th," "Winnie the Pooh," "Schools out for Summer," "The Final Countdown," and, maybe most aptly, "The Great Escape."
But for now, his very British exit remains a mystery. In the words of one online commentator: "Cameron out!"
